Anyone is Philly that can adopt this cat that was dumped by its owners, she is 9 yrs old!! and very sad :(?
URGENT - This sad Princess needs a Happily Ever After! She is a 9 year old black and white female cat that was surrendered by her owners for "unrealistic expectations". Another surrender reason was because she had fleas. She is now flea free and waiting for a home. This very sad girl is devestated to be in the shelter, and is also very sick with a cold. She is shy and scared, and needs her Prince Charming to come rescue her. Can that be you? Erie Ave. Philadelphia, PA 19140, a no-kill 501c3 rescue.

Should I put down my aggressive cat? What other alternatives do I have?
I adopted a 1 year old neutered Siamese male cat about 9 months ago. He was a stray that was rescued off the streets by a vet tech who had him neutered, shots and checked out by a vet several times. She warned me that he gets "over stimulated" when you pet him too much and turns to bite you, but otherwise super energetic, intelligent and charming. When I first met him I picked him up for a while and he looked up at me and I fell in love haha. My boyfriend and I also have another 14 year old female cat. So when I first got him he had his own room so he could get used to us and the other cat. When I tried to pet him or pick him up he would bite, hiss, and scratch so I left him alone figuring he was just getting used to us. I wanted to go real slow with the transition process so I didn't even let him see the other cat for 2 weeks and didn't let him out of the room for the first month. He continued to grow meaner and meaner. He started to attack me when I would just walk by him. He's a very big cat and I'm short (5'2") and one time he jumped and tried to take a swipe AT MY SHOULDER! Several times when he was just sitting around and I tried to pet him a little on the head he attached himself to my arm! I had to stick my finger in his mouth to pry his head off my hand, he just wouldn't let go! The bite had pierced the skin on my hand on one side and bruised it on the other. One day when my boyfriend's baby nephew came to visit I remembered my mean cat so I went to pick him up so I could put him in his room. While he was in my arms he quickly turned and BIT MY FACE. I put the cat away and looked in the mirror and thought he ripped off one of my nostrils it was so bloody. He also loves to attack the other cat, wrestling her on her back and biting her neck and shaking her. My boyfriend has a lot of scars from his terrible bites. While we are sleeping sometimes he jumps up on the bed and starts biting my feet. I've done a lot of researching trying so many different things. I've tried squirt bottles, clicker training, yelling at him, making a "loud scary sound" when he's bad, rewarding "good behavior" with treats, putting him in his room when he's out of control, throwing pillows, and even swatting him on the nose. I brought him back to the original vet clinic where I got him from to get him check out again and they told me that sometimes people just put down pets like this. They said that he is taking up the place of a perfectly sweet cat that is being put down at a shelter and I could go find a nice cat. I even tried finding a home for him through the internet and he was returned back to me 3 times. All the potential owners would say stuff like "he wouldn't let us near him." I've taken into consideration that he was a stray and perhaps even feral. I'm hoping that if I just hold on long enough he's just get fat off living as a house cat and just calm down. But in the end I'm scared of him, scared he'll never change and think it's irresponsible to try to put him in another home where he could hurt other people. EDIT: Two things I have yet to try is meds or giving him to a farm. But what kind of meds and are they ridiculously expensive? Also how would I find a farm willing to take an aggressive cat when I live in a city? 2nd Edit Thanks to everyone for their different perspectives and ideas. I'm trying a 2nd vet and some behavior counseling from the local humane society and dealing with the problem day by day.

You do not have to feel guilty for euthanizing this cat. You cannot send this cat to a shelter because they will not take aggressive cats. This cat is not going to change. You could try working with a behaviorist, but cats have a very narrow window when they are very young where they will imprint positively with humans. This cat has done serious damage. You would be justified in euthanizing it. Edit: I just read that you have had this cat in 3 different homes and it has come back to you all three times. This is a disservice to this cat and adds to the stress and aggression. Being bounced around from you to strangers and back again only serves to stress the cat out further and increase its aggression. It is inhumane to continue trying to find this cat another home. It won't be long before the cat starts urinating/defecating in the house (if it hasn't already) Euthanize the cat and put it out of its misery.

I don't know what to do.?
I have a cat that is almost a year old. He is a happy healthy kitty, though he has an odd hobby. He likes to play with our dogs. We have a mastiff puppy and a B/D, year+ old aussie that he adores. He is allowed inside and outside at his own free will, he even knows how to knock at the front door when he is outside. When he goes out, he plays with the neighborhood cats and has a lot of kitty friends. The problem is, we're moving soon. In our new home, the dogs will have to be kept outside in runs (I wanted to cry when I found out. My aussie-baby sleeps with me and is my life!!) and he will have to be kept inside, since it will be a new area and I don't want him to get lost. He is a social, playful cat that loves all of his companions. Though I am more than willing to devote all of the time I can to him, I still have to train my dog, because she is high energy and blind/deaf. So he will have a lot of free time with no friends. I'm worried that he might get depressed with being alone so suddenly. I am considering getting a cat from a breeder, mostly because I have always wanted a pure bred cat, but also because it will be easier to know what their personality will be like. Sadly, I've been getting brow beat and verbally abused by my friends, since we're all huge about animal rights. I then looked into a shelter, but the only one near us is so bad that the one time we went in, we found out about one dog that had been returned three times, because of it's aggression...sadly, it wasn't even the owner that told us, but her brother. I really can't risk bringing a cat home that will hurt my current cat, because he has been through enough in his life already. Finally, I considered doing what I did to get my first cat: go to the barn that is over populated with cats. The owners of the barn feed the cats, just often enough that they reproduce and get even more crowded and unhealthy. When we got my kitten, he was so sick that he had a lung infection and a half a dozen other things wrong with him. He went from being free to costing us well over 1,000 dollars. My big issue is, if I'm going to out lay that much money on a cat again and I won't have a guarantee that it will live, why shouldn't I just spend it on a breeder that is working to improve the quality of the cats, making them healthier? I know, "Rescue! There are animals that need homes!" but both times I've rescued in the past, only bad things have come from it. Basically my question is: Should I say third time is the charm and risk another heart break or trial or should I find a breed that will be compatible with my beloved kitten?

Your kitty is most likely very content with just her dog pals, she may like visiting other cats but might get quite territorial with another one at home, especially a new home. I suggest you let her spend time with her dog pals supervised until she is acquainted with her surroundings and can once again come and go as she pleases.

Will you critique this story I wrote? I'm undecided about whether I like it or not?
I currently have a love/hate relationship with this story. Here's a chunk of the opening paragraphs. Sorry it's a little long. You don't have to read it all. The first day in a new school. It was worse than I had imagined. They were all looking at me. And I could definitely see why. In my off brand sneakers and unfashionably dorky sweatshirt, I didn’t fit they various stereotypical molds this school offered. A quick survey of my surroundings showed I wouldn’t fit in with the crew clustered to my right. This consisted of a group of athletic, tan looking people. The boys wore leather letter jackets; the girls had on cheerleading uniforms made out of a shockingly small amount of fabric. The small clique to my left didn’t look right for me either. They all possessed some sort of tattoo or piercing. Plus, I’d never really gotten into the dyed hair and all black clothes movement. A group of girls stood in the middle of the room. They all wore brand name shirts and flawless makeup on their flawless faces. I guessed to join their little group, your allowance from daddy had to top $1,000. They stared at me and cocked a collective eyebrow, as if daring me to come closer and associate with them. These gestures made me want to turn and run all the way back to where I came from. The place where I was most comfortable---Louisiana. I loved Louisiana more than an alcoholic loved a nice cold can of Coors. It was where I grew up----the large town of Shreveport to be specific. There was always something going on there from Mardi Gras parades to concerts; it was never dull. I lived in an average middle class house with my average middle class family. This consisted of my mom, Lauren, a paralegal for a pretty big law firm. It was accurate to say my mom wore the pants in the family seeing as my father was unemployed 99% of the time. My dad, Alex, was still trying to make it big in the screenwriting industry. His biggest accomplishment to date was a toaster strudel commercial that aired for a full 20 seconds on T.V. My 4 year old sister, Rose, was your average run-of-the-mill little kid. She had a penchant for singing show tunes from Sesame Street, a hobby that both annoyed at charmed the entire family simultaneously. Yes, it was safe to say I led a normal life in Louisiana. But my favorite thing about Shreveport was that I had friends there. I attended a very small school as a freshman. There were 70 kids tops in my grade, so everyone knew everyone’s most intimate details. That also meant pretty much everyone was friends. After all, it’s hard to hate someone whose dad rescued your cat from a tree, isn’t it? It was August and I was looking forward to being a sophomore at the same small school with the kids I grew up with come September. Then we received the news. Due to budget cuts, the law firm that Mom worked at had to make some lay offs. It turns out my mom was one of the more dispensable paralegals at the firm of White, Smith, and Jackson. the word that is starred out is c--o--c---k---e----d--- yahoo! stars it out never read twilight--- although my obsessed friend is trying to make me.

I liked it. It kept my attention nearly all the way through with what seems to be drama building up. I'm almost done reading Twilight, and I get no indications that this is anything like Twilight. It just seems like a regular teen novel, and if being a novel about teens means it's similar to Twilight, then every Young Adult novel would be Twilight knock-offs - even those written BEFORE Twilight! I say, ignore the Twilight comments, it's very popular right now, so everyone who reads a teen romance novel or just a typical novel about teens will think of Twilight. It's Twilight in the membrane, lol. I say it sounds like an interesting story, so keep on writing it. The last two-three paragraphs was were I was loosing interest, but that happens even in the best of novels.
